A fan of the rock band Linkin Park is accused of hacking into Verizon’s computer system to obtain private family information and records of the band’s lead singer Chester Bennington and his wife using a Department of Energy computer on a U.S. Air Force base in New Mexico. The Bennington’s PayPal account was allegedly compromised, photographs of the family and their children were allegedly stolen, copies of the couple’s Verizon billing records were reportedly stolen, and telephone threats were allegedly made against the Benningtons and their children. The defendant is also accused of criminal trafficking in copyrighted Linkin Park recordings.
